Winter Favorites

Although I’m a tropics baby by birth, I can’t get enough of winter fashion. I bundle up and use the opportunity to make the best of all the added layers, fabrics, and textures.  Check out some of my favorite items for the winter below!
Winter Favorites
One of my favorite items for every day, especially during the workweek, is a puffer jacket.  Hear me out…not all puffers are created equal.  There is a silhouette for every body type. I love a puffer with a belt or cinched waist to create more of a feminine look.  Ladies, if you’re petite like me, try to find a coat that hits just above the knee to elongate you; if you’re taller, you have the luxury of length!
Don’t be so quick to pack away your crop jeans.  You can still make them work! When you’re a bit shorter, a crop jean is evverryyything (mostly because regular length pants all require hemming for me…and who’s got time or money for that?).  I love a cute crop jean with a closed toe heel…and because denim is a great insulating fabric I don’t have to worry about freezing my tush off!

I can’t say enough about blanket scarves. Not that I’m a scarf snob, but something about a huge, warm, cozy scarf that double-duties as a blanket just makes me feel sooo cuddly.  Luckily, they’ve finally made their way to the forefront of cold-weather fashion this past fall and winter.  And there’s a multitude of ways to wrap them, so you never have to worry about not being able to show off the pretty print or graphics of your top.

Pullover sweater

I love a cute graphic sweatshirt.  Easy to throw on, easy to dress up with heels or down with leggings and sneakers, no muss, no fuss.  There’s been no shortage of graphic options this season, so making them a closet essential is even easier.

Over the knee boots are my go-to during the winter.  They can help transition a warmer weather dress along with the right cardigan or jacket but look great with the right jeans, too!  Pairing a cute pair of OTK’s with a mini skirt is great for a date night and even the office!

James Lakeland fur lined coat

With all the neutrals, earth tones, and wool (like) fabrics we tend to gravitate towards during the colder months, nothing pops like a statement coat.  Whether it’s a fun, bold, print or even just a solid colored coat, a fun statement coat can pull together an outfit and make it so much more elegant.

This last tip may seem a little…out of the blue…but I can’t stress this enough…HYDRATE!  All the dry air from  heat, the cute hats and scarves we wear, they really dry us out!  From our lips to our hands and fingers to our hair. A good hand salve, a good lip protectant, they’re awesome…but nothing beats good old H2O. It even helps makeup adhere better!

Even though January is here, we’ve still got quite a few of these frigid winter weeks left, so make the most of them.  Shop end of season sales (wisely!) and stock up on high quality items at a deep discount!  Be fashionable but still functional
